About facing our own mortality. At a very young age, I became obsessed with memento mori. So when I had an MRI after a series of intense migraines, I did not waste the opportunity to use the images for patterns. Seeing my own skull was a very personal experience and a cathartic release. It took me one step closer to accepting my mortal condition. Starting GARIBALDI STUDIO and making patterns is my attempt to reach a form of permanence. I'd like for my shawls to be worn, loved and passed on through generations. So it only made sense I should put my own head on a few of them.
