About resilience. In my 20s, I suffered from chronic nerves pain for a long time. I took strong painkillers trying to dull the pain and understand what was happening to me. After months of doctor appointments, the one verdict that saved me was ' there's no cause for the pain than the pain itself'. My body was screaming at me and I kept ignoring it. I suddenly had no choice but to listen. I tried everything I could to undo the harm. Without surprise, therapy coupled with hypnosis helpmed. I visualised my pain to be something soft, flowing outside of me - a gentle feather floating in the air around me, calm and peaceful yet strong. The day I stopped taking painkillers is the day I had a feather tattooed. This caused a different kind of pain, a cathartic one. Today, I still use the image of a feather flowing in the wind when I meditate so quite naturally I had to include distorted feather images to make a shawl. What is more flowing, light and soft than silk?
